summer plans

So what are your summer plans? Some of you may have a big trip planned and maybe you've had it planned for years. Some of you may be sticking close to home waiting for that precious baby to make its arrival. Some of you may just be taking it easy and looking forward to warmer weather.

What are WE doing you may ask? Well, we know we'll be moving out of this apartment at some point. We know we'll move to a house or a different apartment. We know that we will start the road to full-time employment. We know that we'll have to adjust to life without school.

However we don't know where we'll be living. We don't know when we'll be moving. We don't know if we'll be able to go to cousins weddings, or babys baptisms, or family reunions. We don't know a lot of things about the particulars of this upcoming summer. But we're okay with that. It's an interesting time not knowing where and when certain things will happen. The good thing is... we know who knows what our future holds for us and we're very comfortable with it in HIS hands. We wouldn't want it any other way. If we had to decide we'd mess up for sure. We'd let too many of our human wants and desires get in the way. He knows where and when He needs us and He'll let us know at the appropriate time. The funny thing is, we do know when we'll find out where we are going... we just have to wait until that time. I'm okay with waiting.

I've been waiting for this day for four years and now that it's coming so close I'm a little sad. We'll have to leave the comfort zone of the Seminary and the closeness of the friends we've made. We'll have to leave the familiar behind and start a new chapter. But we know that we'll survive. We've closed and opened many chapters and we are confident that they are only happening because of the grace and mercy of our Savior. I'm very excited to see where the Lord is going to place Greg to serve as Pastor. I am very excited to see what ministry situtation we are best suited for at this time in our lives. I am excited to meet new friends and to look for a house to make a home. I am excited to settle down (and move out of this tiny apartment) and live some place for more than one year. In just 37 days we will find out where we may be living and serving for the next 5-30 years. Only God knows how long we'll stay at our first call and I'm okay with that too. I don't know who said this but it is the best quote to sum up what I'm feeling right now:

I don't know what the future holds but I know who holds the future.

So what are your summer plans? Do you want to help us move?
